I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break! We are enjoying a camping holiday in a caravan park – all the fun of a tent, plus modern amenities (including, as you can see, wifi!).
Our Christmas Day was very relaxed – the children have been getting to bed so late that they aren’t waking up at dawn (which is nice, since dawn is about 5am). Eventually they surfaced some time after 7 and opened their presents from Santa – a few little things, a boogie board each and a remote control car each. The next few hours were spent figuring out how to get them all going and rescuing the cars from under objects, being tipped over on slopes, or other minor accidents.
After some breakky mid-morning, we unwrapped the rest of our presents – lots of books, some treats, a few clothes and some fun toys the children chose for each other. I had a very kitchen themed Christmas – a fancy pizza plate with holes in it (crispy-based pizza here we come!), a school tea-towel, a tea strainer for a mug, a tea canister and a beautiful aubergine-coloured Zero teapot!
The rest of the day was spent lazily playing with new toys, and a trip to a beach at lunchtime to try out the boogie boards (the adults were very sensible and did not attempt to go in the freezing water!).
Today is so far fine and mild – we are not having a hot Christmas at all – and I rode my bike into town for more milk before breakky, so I am feeling less guilty about lazing around now 🙂
We are planning to do a couple more daytrips if the weather is fine – in three days we head off to visit Tink and co for New Year’s. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn stormy – that would not be ideal.
Best get off the computer now and go somewhere!
I hope you are all having the kind of Christmas break you most enjoy.
